Focus and Scope

  • Mission

To serve as periodical publishing vehicle of theoretical and applied research work in the field of strategy, studying organizations, nations, markets and society in general.

Goals

To publish original and previously unpublished articles in the field of strategy to promote production and scientific disclosure.

Scope

New theoretical perspectives that enable greater understanding and variety of strategy, in terms of improving strategy efficiency and critical approaches. The journal prioritizes the development of challenging new theories, clarification of the existing theory and the identification of new research questions.

• Empirical investigations or essays which, from theories or frameworks, show a practical application in the field of strategy; priority is given to previously unpublished and relevant contributions using both quantitative and/or qualitative methods.

Target audience

Researchers, academics, professionals and students interested in various issues related to strategy and how it is thought, planned and managed.

Submission Policy

The decisions and actions of the Editorial Board are based on ethical principles based on the belief that support scientific journals and publishers should follow the latest advances in the scientific Ibero-American world.

Operationally, in accordance with the Open Journal System (OJS) platform, all submitted articles are evaluated by the Editorial Board in terms of their scientific merit, suitability and compliance with the standards of the American Psychological Association (APA) and other precepts of the IJSM.

Submitted texts are sent to at least two referees in a blind review system. Following the peer reviews, the Editorial Board may decide that an article should be edited and suggest possible changes.

All texts submitted must be accompanied by a letter of authorization for publication (printed and electronic), as well as a declaration that the content is new and exclusive for publication in the journal.

At the editorial office, educational and research organization or individual involved in councils, committees or publishing processes and journal management are liable for the content, ideas, opinions or concepts of the articles. Such liability is the exclusive responsibility of the author(s).

Aims and Scope

This special edition aims to present studies related to Microeconomics of Competitiveness. The special edition seeks to cover different national and institutional sectorial configurations through papers that provide a deeper understanding of strategies in this context, using diverse methods and data sources.

Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

The evaluation process of papers submitted to the Iberoamerican Journal of Strategic Management is characterized by a dual rating system and involves two sequential steps: the desk review and the assessment by reviewers.

In the desk review, the editors gather and analyze, without author identification, submitted articles to assess their relevance to the journal's scope and their potential to make a significant contribution to the construction of knowledge in the field of study of strategy. When necessary, the editors involve members of the scientific committee in the process.

This evaluation occurs monthly. When an article does not comply with the policy of the journal, the authors are notified of this decision within sixty days of the date of submission. Articles approved in the desk review stage are forwarded to two of the journal’s expert reviewers for evaluation in a Double Blind Review system or to external researchers selected for their knowledge of the field of study of the article. The reviewers are professors and researchers associated to stricto sensu graduate programs of domestic or foreign educational institutions.

Articles are evaluated in a previously defined form, considering the relevance of the theme in question to strategy, the quality of the writing, the logical thread of the theoretical review, the use of appropriate bibliographical references, the suitability of the methodological procedures, the depth and consistency of the analysis, the outline of the conclusions and the relevance of the contributions. This stage of the evaluation process can last up to three months. When it is completed, the authors are notified of the editorial decision. When reviewers request adjustments to the article, the authors, at the discretion of the editor, may be allowed a period of thirty to sixty days for the incorporation of the suggested changes.

After the completion of the requested adjustments, articles are submitted to a spelling check, grammar review, reassessment of their compliance with the norms of the journal and final editing.

The conclusion of this process does not imply the immediate publication of the article. This decision is made by the editors, who determine the editorial policies, guidelines and the appropriate time for publication.

 

Publication Frequency

• Until 2009, the journal was published twice a year (January-June, July-December);

•As of 2010, the journal was published three times a year (January-April, May-August, September-December);

• Since 2013, the journal has been published quarterly (January-March, April-June, July-September, October-December);

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides open access to all of its content, the articles can be read, downloaded, copied, distributed, printed and/or searched.

 

 

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits these to create permanent archives of the journal for preservation and restoration. Learn "> http://lockss.stanford.edu/">

 

Councils and Committees

About the Editorial Board

The Editorial Board is composed of representatives from different academic institutions. Its members act mainly, but not exclusively, in the field of strategy. The Editorial Board does not always operate collectively. There is no provision for regular meetings to address issues. There is no formal involvement of the Editorial Board with the entity legally responsible for the publication of the journal. Each member participates in an individual manner, and these individual efforts are articulated by the Scientific Committee or the Editor. Each member serves as an advisor to the Scientific Committee and Editor, interpreting and suggesting improvements in Editorial Policy, disseminating the magazine, acting as an arbitrator on the strategic issues of the RIAE in the academic or professional environment. The Editorial Board does not supervise or interfere in the editorial process, and remains outside the arbitration process of the articles. The Editorial Board voices opinions on relevant subjects such as the consistency of editorial policy and publications, quality and the ethical issues relating to editorial management. Each member also assumes the function of "ombudsman" of the active scientific community in the field, ensuring the academic credibility and the attitude expected of a scientific journal.

Scientific Committee

The Scientific Committee it is an interinstitutional Board composed of representatives from the research groups that provide more direct support for the development of the journal. It operates on a system of collective and democratic decisions. The mission of the group is to ensure the credibility of the editorial procedures and scientific responsibility of the journal. The Scientific Committee nominates the Scientific Editor. Furthermore, the committee undertakes scientific assignments to ensure that the mission of the journal is fulfilled. This Committee must be permanently active in the fulfilment of the general definitions of the editorial policy of the journal and its editorial procedures, particularly with regard to guaranteeing the consistency and quality of its publications. Special editions and other scientific contributions have to be discussed and defined by this committee. This group discusses and develops regulations for a wide range of subjects, including rules for formatting articles, criteria for evaluating and accepting articles, acceptance of new research groups to participate in the activities of the Committee, budget approval, accreditation of peer-reviewers and examiners and setting policies for circulation and subscriptions. The Scientific Committee does not interfere with the editorial operation of the IJSM, which is the responsibility of the Editor and operational staff.

Scientific Editor

The Scientific Editor is responsible for establishing Editorial Policy, editorial management and overseeing the Editorial Secretariat, which operates the entire workflow, with the aid of Open Journal System. The Editor is specifically involved in the selection of articles submitted to the journal and the distribution of articles to reviewers. If articles meet quality requirements, they will be published. Additionally, the publisher must play an active role in the work of the Scientific Committee and the joint actions of the Editorial Board.
